Ride Sunday March 22

Ambleside 10 lakes ride - Sun 22nd March. Start Ambleside Rugby Club 10am

This is the old route that we have done several times over the years. It is a 10 lakes tour and takes in the following lakes and Lakeland villages.
Windermere Lake, Blelham Tarn,Wray Castle, Esthwaite Water. Hawkshead, Tarn Hows, Coniston Water, Coniston (Lunch) Yew Tree Tarn,
Elterwater, Loughrigg Tarn, Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water.
This is a sight seeing tour and nobody will be in a hurry, some steep hills  (Hawkshead Hill and up to Tarn Hows). Also two descents which should be treat with care, down from Tarn Hows and Red Bank nr Grasmere, so make sure your brakes are up to it. There are two sections on Sustrans / Go Lakes paths which are unsurfaced, however, these are in good repair and have been renovated very recently, can't see any problem for your bike, if you are worried you can use the road instead. Lunch stop is in Coniston at Hollands internet cafe, those with a picnic can use seating just across the road or if wet in the bus shelter. It will be a great day so look forward to seeing you.
Distance is 30 miles.
 Cheers Bill.
Forgot to mention. Ambleside Rugby Club is a very valuable starting point for KDCS rides, it used to be free but they have installed an honesty box, please respect this and make a contribution to their funds, guide £2.
