We are keen to hear from residents, businesses, organisations and visitors to help shape the proposals.
The proposals for the active travel routes cover two sections of the following road:
- U7003 around the western side of Thirlmere reservoir between Wythburn and the west end of the Thirlmere Reservoir dam road below Raven Crag.
- U7003 from the east end of the Thirlmere Reservoir dam, across the A591 to the B5233 at The Green. The focus of the work in this section is improving the crossing of the A591 for walking, cycling and wheeling. Proposals west of the A591 are limited to signage related to the crossing.
The public engagement will run from the 1st to 23rd August 2026.
An online survey is also available for people to share their views: Thirlmere West Public Consultation. Here you will find a questionnaire about the proposal and copies of the plans.
We will be holding two face to face drop-in events. You can just turn up, no booking required. The times and venues are:
- 13 August 2026 between 10.00am and 1.00pm and 1.30pm and 4.00pm in Keswick Library, 10 Heads Lane, Keswick, CA12 5HD
- 13 August 2026 between 5.00pm to 7.30pm in Thirlmere Recreation Hall, Stanah Lane, Thirlmere, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 4TW
Paper copies of the maps, plans and questionnaire will also be available to view in Keswick Library during the public engagement period.
