Description

From the front of the Leisure Centre cross over the main road diagonally left into Rinkfield, at the end turning left towards Natland.

Pass through Natland to Sedgwick, where immediately after the canal bridge overhead turn left (sign Milnthorpe), and again left at the nearby (unsigned) lane end, to soon pass over the dual carriageway and on through Hincaster.

After a short up and down, turn right onto Mabbin Hall Lane (Leasgill/ Heversham sign) for a gradual climb and sharp descent (take care with tight left bend) into Leasgill, going right (unsigned).

In 200 yds turn left onto a narrow rough track, immediately in front of a house (easily missed). This descends to the busy A6. Cross straight over here onto the lane opposite, taking great care as limited visibility and fast traffic.

The next mile is on the flat lanes of Milnthorpe Marshes. Soon the lane turns left by a farm (blue 700 sign), and the route goes left over a small bridge at the next nearby junction (700 goes right).

Soon Heversham Hotel is reached, and here cross over the A6 again (unsigned) and go immediately right and left by the church onto Woodhouse Lane.

In Woodhouse  turn left (Hincaster/ Kendal), continue straight on past the nearby crossroads, and in a couple of minutes turn left (unsigned) immediately after passing under the railway bridge (easily missed), straight on at the next (unsigned) junction (take care – no priority) and on to pass under the road and then soon the railway (danger of flooding here), then up and down (take care, limited visibility in places) to rejoin at Sedgwick the homeward route.

The Barrows Green pub is reached midway between Sedgwick and Natland by turning hard right up a narrow climbing lane (NCN 6), going left at the top to drop down (limited visibility, take care) to the pub. To return, simply retrace your steps back to the Natland road.
