Description

From the front of the Leisure Centre cross over the main road diagonally left into Rinkfield, at the end turning left towards Natland. (Note – an alternative off-road start is going left on the shared path in front of the LC, then crossing the main road at the signed central reservation and descending on to the old canal route through the wood to soon join the tarmac road to Natland.)

Pass through Natland to Sedgwick, where immediately after the canal bridge overhead turn left (sign Milnthorpe), and again left at the nearby end, to soon pass over the dual carriageway and on through Hincaster to the crossroads near Woodhouse.

Here go right (Woodhouse/ Milnthorpe), and at the nearby T go right again, and straight on to  Heversham and the T by the church.

A right and immediate left (both unsigned) brings you to the busy A6, where cross over (unsigned) past the Heversham Hotel and simply follow the nice flat lane (soon joining Bay Cycleway 700) down past the sewage works to the main road by Dallam Bridge.

Here go right (blue Lancaster bike sign) and simply carry on, the road soon becoming the seaside road to the Ship Inn.

To return, retrace your steps to Dallam Bridge, but then continue to and through Milnthorpe, up the hill, past the school roundabout, then soon going left (sign Hincaster/ Kendal) to Woodhouse, where at the T the outward route is joined.

Again retrace by going right and immediately left at the T (Hincaster/ Kendal), and on to the nearby crossroads you came in on.

Continue straight on past these crossroads, in a couple of minutes turning left (unsigned) immediately after passing under the railway bridge, straight on at the next (unsigned) junction (take care – no priority) and on to pass under the railway (danger of flooding here), then up and down (take care, limited visibility half way down) to rejoin at Sedgwick the homeward route back to Kendal.
