Description

From the front of the Leisure Centre go left on the short shared path, before joining the main road and staying in the left hand lane to the lights.

Fork left at the lights (Oxenholme/ Station/ Old Hutton sign) and follow the road up to the station and steeply up to the Station Inn and beyond.

In a mile + Old Hutton/ Middleshaw is reached, and the ride here goes right (unsigned) onto Popplemire Lane, which gradually rises to Holmescales Farm.

Going right (unsigned) leads on a gently descending lane to Gatebeck, going straight on at the large crossroads to pass Goose Green and on to the main A65 road, opposite a Memorial Hall.

Here go left (unsigned) and immediately right (taking care) over  a narrow canal bridge (sign Milness/ no HGVs). Follow the lane to pass under the road bridge and then quickly go right (unsigned), past Wath Sutton and on to the crossroads by a garden centre.

Pass straight over, towards Woodhouse/ Heversham.

Soon the ride passes under the railway and after a short climb turns right onto unsigned White Lane, to quickly arrive at a crossroads.

Here go straight over (Hincaster/ Kendal) and simply follow the road for a couple of miles. After passing over the dual carriageway, soon bear right into Sedgwick (unsigned, but village name sign) – there turning right under the canal bridge and following the road through Natland back to Kendal.

The Barrows Green  Punch Bowl pub is reached midway between Sedgwick and Natland by turning hard right up a narrow climbing lane (sign Stainton/ NCN 6), going left at the top to drop down (poor visibility, take care) to the pub. To return simply retrace your steps back to the Natland road and Kendal.
