Description

From  Milnthorpe Square go down over the A6 lights and head for Arnside.

In ½ mile turn left into Dallam Park immediately after crossing a river bridge (blue bike sign, National Cycle Network 6, Lancaster), to climb the tree – lined road, turning left at the top.

The route passes the Storth turning and drops gently down into Beetham, there going right at the T by the Wheatsheaf pub (National Cycle Network blue 6 sign).

It climbs up through Slackhead, at the top bearing right into Leighton Beck Rd (highway sign possibly being repaired) and soon for a quick drop to a T by a small bridge.

Go left (sign Carnforth/ Yealand Redmayne) for a flat section, before the road turns right and up a steep hill, the biggest climb of the ride. It soon drops down again, and at the nearby main road bears left to nearby Yealand Redmayne.

In Yealand Redmayne turn left down the easily missed 8 Acre Lane (sign Milnthorpe/ Carnforth), and on to the A6 crossroads, where go straight over (blue bike 90 sign only).

The road and route continue up over the railway, canal and M6 to Burton.
(Note – the route can be shortened by a mile, by soon after crossing the A6 going left onto an unsigned road just before the railway, and then at the end, right, under the railway bridge to rejoin the main route at the Y mentioned below.)

Continue into Burton (shop, pub) and in ¼ + mile turn 1st left into Neddy Lane and after a small drop continue up and over the motorway, then dropping down under the canal to a Y, there going right to Holme.

In Holme (shops, pub), simply turn left and follow the road back to Milnthorpe.
(Note – an alternative is to turn right in Holme and immediately left onto North road, then at the village end bear left into narrow Old Lane, left at its end, then by the railway bridge right to rejoin the main route.)
