KDCS – The Kendal & District Cycle Scene

The open and free club for all things cycling – rides, routes, events and campaigns.

About KDCS

Kendal and District Cycle Scene was set into motion in June 1993. The group is both active and dynamic with a growing membership of over 100 members.

Our reason for being is to promote cycling in and around Kendal as a healthy, environmentally friendly and enjoyable mode of transport.

The group actively promotes cycling for work, shopping, school and leisure. We organise a regular programme of leisure rides at weekends and on summer evenings usually within the Kendal area. The rides vary in length from 15 miles to 45 miles (occasionally longer).

Cycling is not just practical, not just a pastime, not just a passion - it is a perfect partnership. It is sustainable. It is satisfying. It is an ideal social activity. We aim to promote the wide benefits of cycling accordingly by campaigning, meetings, slideshows, leisure rides and other events.

The KDCS have previously worked closely with the local authorities in drawing up plans for an elaborate cycle network within the Kendal environs. The network plans were considered to be some of the finest examples put together by a cycling group in the whole country. KDCS continue to campaign for full implementation of cycle routes throughout the area.

The strength behind KDCS is the wide diversity of its members who share the commitment to promote cycling in Kendal and its surrounding district. We do hope local cyclists will continue to join us.
