Description:Saturday  August 11th - Four, Five or Six Cols: 64km (of which 32km are downhill).

Meet 10.00 at Ambleside Rugby Club (donations please in the honesty box).

This is a hilly route with 4 to 6 climbs up which anyone may walk if they wish - we can wait. From Ambleside via Fold de Skelwith to Col de Croix Haute (Cat3). Then to Torver and Le Moor de Broughton (Cat1), with refreshment stop at Les Bras de Smith Noir. Over Col de Kiln Bank (Cat2) to Dunnerdale and stop at Le Nouveau Champ (or BYO by the river). Thence Beck de Cockley and Col de Nez de Wry (Cat1) to Petit Langdale. Now a choice of routes to the cafe a L'Eau de Elter either via the valley or over Col de Tarn Bleu (Cat2). Finally over Bank Rouge (Cat2) and back to Ambleside (or directly there to avoid the last col). Please make sure your brakes are in good condition.

Andy has changed the day  due to the weather forecast for the week-end -

A bit of a dilemma for Sunday's ride.  The forecast for Sunday is poor and although the strong winds predicted yesterday for the weekend now don't seem to be happening, the BBC is still forecasting heavy rain.  This is the Kendal forecast so one would expect it to be wetter in the fells.

There is some degree of uncertainty about when and how much rain is coming and I don't want to cancel the ride and then find it is a much better day than thought.  On the other hand, it would be dangerous to cycle mountain passes in heavy rain.

So my proposed solution is to prepone (opposite of postpone) the ride to Saturday.  All other details the same.  Hope to see people at Ambleside at 10:00.

I think this is a reasonable course of action

Many thanks,
